About us

Our mission

wpmtypingtest.online exists to give every person an honest answer to a simple question: how fast do I really type? Not the number you reach on a short burst of easy lowercase words, but the speed you actually have when you write an email, a report or a message at work. We call that your true WPM, and we built this site to measure it fairly, explain it clearly and help you improve it.

What we stand for

  • Honesty. Every test uses real, natural English by default, with capital letters and punctuation, because that is what you type every day. We show the exact formulas behind your score, so you can check every number yourself.
  • Privacy. There are no accounts and no sign up. Your typing, your results and your history stay in your own browser. We never receive or store them.
  • Focus. One test and one clear result. No games, no leaderboards and no distractions while you type.
  • Free for everyone. The test, the full analysis and the replay are free to use, on any device, as often as you like.
  • Accessibility. The test works with a keyboard alone, on phones and tablets, and with screen readers announcing your final result.

How we are different

Many typing tests flatter people. They use short lists of simple words, very short time limits and scores that ignore mistakes. The result feels good, but it does not match real life. We do things differently:

  • One topic per test. Each test is a single, flowing passage about one everyday subject, such as cooking dinner, planning a budget or preparing for an interview. It reads like real writing, not a random list of words.
  • Real text by default. Capitals, commas, full stops, apostrophes and question marks are switched on from the start.
  • A clear “True WPM” badge. When you choose easier settings, we label the result as practice, so you always know which number reflects real typing.
  • Mistakes count. Your headline score is net WPM, which subtracts errors you left in the text. Accuracy counts every wrong key, even the ones you fixed.
  • A fair timer. The clock starts on your first key and pauses if you click away, so interruptions never spoil a result.
  • Help to improve. After every test you get a full analysis: speed over time, a keyboard heatmap, your slowest and most missed keys, practical tips and a replay of every keystroke.

Who it is for

Students preparing for exams, job seekers getting ready for a typing assessment, office workers who want to save time, and anyone curious about their speed. Whether you type 20 or 120 words per minute, you will get a number you can trust and a clear idea of what to practise next.
